Jamestown council approves routine midyear budget amendments

At its Dec. 19 meeting the Jamestown City Council approved a series of midyear budget amendments covering multiple departments and line items.

Tyler, a city staff member, presented the adjustments and described them as routine, auditor-suggested midyear movements. He listed several changes, including increasing the travel line from $1,500 to $5,000 and raising a miscellaneous line from $1,000 to $3,500. Tyler said the police supplies account was increased from about $15 to $2,000 and that the fire-department vehicle-repair line rose from $5,000 to $17,000. He also told the council two fire suits costing roughly $4,500 had been purchased, with about $3,500 paid for by a grant.

The presentation included additional adjustments to utilities, wages, insurance, capital equipment and professional-fee accounts. Tyler said some capital-equipment and billing-line items were increased while one capital equipment figure was lowered compared with an earlier estimate.

After the presentation the chair asked for a motion to approve the adjustments. A motion and second were recorded and the council approved the amendments by voice vote.

The council did not set further conditions on the changes at the meeting. No ordinances or resolutions were introduced; the actions recorded were approval of the line-item adjustments entered into the city’s budget as presented. The meeting then moved to other business and was later adjourned.
