FGCU expected to receive $22M for Babcock Ranch facility; Marieb Hall South remanded for future funding

Director of Government Relations Jennifer Goen summarized the $114.5 billion budget reported during the special session and said the allocations for Babcock Ranch and the $2.5 million recurring amount were the key highlights relevant to FGCU. She noted that some statutory and policy changes from the 2026 session will affect universities, including actions on PBF metrics and tuition authority.
Separately, Foundation liaison Doug VanOort briefed trustees that the FGCU Foundation surpassed its FY goal, raising $40.5 million versus a $38.5 million goal; the Foundation proposed a $62 million fundraising goal for the coming fiscal year driven by plans to raise $25 million for phase one of a Bower School of Music & the Arts expansion (the Bower expansion was estimated at $54 million overall, with about $22 million already committed during the quiet phase).
What it means: The proposed $22 million supports planned Babcock Ranch research and outreach activity; the absence of AB10 funding requires continued advocacy and placement on next year's capital request list.
