FGCU will not pursue ACPHA accreditation for Resort and Hospitality Management after ROI review

Thorne noted that FGCU’s institutional accreditation is held with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and that while discipline-level (secondary) accreditation is highly recommended in some regulated fields, it is not required when institutional accreditation covers programs. The decision reflected a review of return on investment for FGCU; Thorne said FGCU’s industry partners were not concerned and that the university remains committed to quality and graduating students with appropriate skills.
