Mosier leaders report postal, rail and street updates; snow‑removal planning under way

At the Sept. 3 meeting Mayor Witt Anderson and City Manager Andrea Rogers gave updates on multiple city service and construction items.
Postal service: Anderson said he has reached out to Postmaster Joe Atwood in The Dalles about cluster mailboxes but has not yet received a response; City Recorder Amy Szilagyi has also been contacting the post office. Anderson said residents will no longer be charged for PO boxes at the local post office.
Rail and construction updates: Anderson reported that Union Pacific Railroad’s second-track project is running four to five months behind schedule and that Aaron Hunt is preparing an FAQ for the city to address resident concerns.
Public works: City Manager Andrea Rogers said she has discussed snow removal for the coming winter with contractor Todd Reeves and has worked with City Engineer Stoner Bell on pothole repairs focused near the Mosier Market; staff also plan to renew street striping and add dedicated crosswalk locations.
City Recorder Amy Szilagyi told the council she is searching for a city truck through the Government Surplus Auction website. Councilors praised staff for progress on project management and coordination.
The council assigned staff follow-up tasks related to these items and other agenda matters before adjourning at 7:34 p.m.
