Main Street seeks $50,000 for 2027 and unveils farmers-market shade proposal

Staff discussed wind, drainage and installation logistics and said the vendor is experienced; the tarps would be removable for winter storage. Council members asked about structural attachment points, wind behavior at the site, and whether the buildings and headers can bear the loads; staff said they would confirm and check engineering details.
Finally, Main Street provided its board list and asked the council to include $50,000 in the 2027 budget (stipulating the funds be used for events and operations, not salaries). The council discussed prior-year amounts and asked staff to confirm budget constraints and return with a recommendation.
