The Junction City Commission approved Resolution R‑3122 to update the city salary schedule, add two positions and provide a 6% cost‑of‑living adjustment.
City staff and the city manager said the resolution adds a part‑time airport manager to address deficiencies identified in a recent Federal Aviation Administration inspection and a full‑time landscape technician to manage multiple landscaping contracts and city assets. The city manager said a current part‑time expense of roughly $13,000 could be reallocated if the new airport position is filled. Staff described the landscaper technician pay range as about $22 to $30 per hour and the airport manager as roughly $18 to $22 per hour for a part‑time role.
Commissioners discussed hiring timing and whether the positions would be filled from within; staff said internal applicants would be eligible when positions are posted. A motion to approve the resolution was moved, seconded and passed by roll call.
What happens next: staff will post positions, evaluate candidates and return as needed for final hiring approvals and budget adjustments.
