Pelham Manor announces traffic survey, paving schedule and 250th‑anniversary commemoration

Village leaders used the June 22 Board of Trustees meeting to brief residents on several community initiatives, including a traffic study, a paving schedule and a proclamation to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary.

Deputy Mayor Bennett urged residents to participate in a village traffic survey that follows a 2024 assessment led by the Village Manager and DTS Provident Engineers and is now being developed with planning and engineering firm AKRF. Bennett said the survey will inform the study’s recommendations and that residents who cannot complete it online may request a mailed hard copy from Village Hall.

Village Manager Lindsey M. Luft provided a tentative paving schedule covering Roosevelt Place, Roosevelt Avenue, Shore View Circle, part of Reed Avenue, Witherbee Avenue and Wynnewood Road (from the Witherbee cul‑de‑sac through Colonial Avenue). Manager Luft asked residents to avoid parking on listed streets during paving days and said the main streets around Shore Park are expected to be paved by July 4.

Manager Luft also announced a Village proclamation commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States, a planned Liberty Tree planting and a decorative proclamation to be displayed at Village Hall. The Mayor and Board extended congratulations to recent Pelham High School graduates and noted resident Olympian Kate Douglass’s recent world‑record swim and academic milestone at the University of Virginia.

The Board recessed briefly to await Trustee Owen‑Michaane’s arrival; the meeting resumed the same evening.
