USD 452 board recognizes student, coach and art achievements; announces graduation details

At its May 13 meeting, the Stanton County USD 452 Board of Education recognized student and staff achievements and shared upcoming academic events.
The board noted Leighton Grover as High Plains League (HPL) Coach of the Year and David Crane as HPL Player of the Year; David Crane will play next season at Garden City Community College. Art award winners Yanelle Gonzalez, Johana Aden and McKenzie Jeske were recognized for pieces selected as Fort Hays State University top picks. Superintendent Novack and Principal Leah Crane said these honorees had displayed exceptional work and representation for the high school.
Principal Leah Crane’s posted report also noted four seniors who will graduate from Seward County Community College (Corey Wilson, Geraldo Robles, Galilea Don Juan and David Crane), two students (Austin Seger and Seth Ehrlich) qualifying for the Koala Mathematics Olympiad in Macau, China in July, the State FFA Convention dates (May 25–26 in Manhattan), and that USD 452’s graduation is scheduled for May 16 at 2:00 p.m.
Why it matters: The recognitions highlight student achievement in athletics, the arts and academics and share key dates for the school community ahead of graduation and summer events.
What’s next: Graduation on May 16 and regional/state competitions will follow the close of the school year; the board will proceed with summer projects once school reconvenes.
