Stanton County students earn international math medals; FFA presents on farm labor concerns

The board formally recognized three students — Seth Ehrlich, Austin Seger and Simone Kotze — who earned Bronze awards in the FISO International Math Olympiad held Feb. 28 against competitors from 16 countries. Kenneth Sibal, the high school math teacher noted in the minutes, was recognized for his role with the students.
Owen White, a fifth grader and district spelling-bee winner, was also recognized; the minutes say he reached the top 18 in the regional competition and would have placed sixth. Andrea Jones, elementary principal, gave a KESA walkthrough update and reported that turf material was scheduled to arrive April 16 to begin installation work on the field.
FFA's presentation was recorded under public comments and the minutes list the group as the presenters of the labor-shortage topic. The board did not record any formal votes tied to the public-comment items; the recognitions were entered into the minutes as part of the meeting record.
