Pelham Manor police report: 24 larcenies, 32 arrests in May; department reports implicit bias training

"If you receive a call, text, or even an email about an alleged debt, please do not respond," Police Chief Sancho said, urging people to verify claims directly with the agency before making payments. The Department described one fraud report involving someone who believed they were speaking with their credit card company but who was not.
Chief Sancho also reported that detectives joined a Westchester County Real Time Crime Center retail‑theft enforcement detail and that officers made a larceny arrest at the PetSmart in the Manor Shopping Plaza. The department participated in community events in May, including a Vehicle Fair at Huguenot Nursery School and the Project Community Color Run.
The Chief noted the department’s participation in Pelham Overnight, a youth‑led event aimed at promoting mental health awareness. He said Pelham Manor officers attended that event and other community outreach activities.
On training, Chief Sancho said the department delivered 8‑hour implicit bias sessions in May as part of its annual training program to address bias related to race, gender and other identities.
The Board thanked the Police Department for its service. No votes were required for the report, which was adopted as part of the meeting record.
