The property owner later installed a roof line that appears larger than the approved permit and then applied for a second slip; staff said the installed covered area now exceeds the single‑slip maximum and therefore a variance or correction is required. Staff advised that if the owner removed the portion of roof covering the terminal platform (approximately 90 sq ft), the second slip could be permitted without a variance.
Applicant Jeff Reed said he is willing to provide original permit documents or remove roof coverage and that he has spoken with neighbors and obtained signatures of support. Board members and a structural‑engineering‑qualified member raised safety and permitting concerns and encouraged the applicant to bring verified documentation or to alter the roof to conform. The board moved to continue the item for 60 days to give staff and the applicant time to reconcile documents and possible engineering steps; the motion passed 4‑0.
