The clerk told the council that a judicial order from the 15th district encourages or requires courts to sign up. The clerk said the change will allow officers to complete warrant signatures remotely without returning to the courthouse, which the clerk described as a cost and efficiency benefit.
Councilman Breeland moved to approve the request; a councilmember seconded and the motion carried. The council authorized the court clerk to sign all related documents on the city's behalf.
The update was described as an administrative contract change to reduce renewal costs and enable electronic warrants; the council did not amend any law at this meeting.
