Commissioners approve mileage correction for Steve Miller Road after highway update

On a separate matter, staff recommended changing the recorded length of Steve Miller Road (IR 174) from 0.3011 miles to 0.4282 miles — a correction of +0.1271. A commissioner moved and another seconded the recommendation; the chair called for aye and the motion carried by voice vote.
The highway superintendent also reviewed recent emergency and patching work in small towns: a Little York culvert repair that produced an invoice for $4,904.88 (the town reimbursed the county) and a separate short patching job near Hardinsburg totaling around $970 in materials. Staff emphasized the need to clarify policy when the county performs work in incorporated towns to avoid audit exposure.
Next steps: staff will follow up on permit timelines for Bridge 39 and Radcliffe Road and will file the mileage correction with the state as recommended.
