Staff urged the board to adopt a starting policy that establishes a clear perimeter — no riding or charging on campus — and to link violations to the student code of conduct so disciplinary steps are consistent across schools. Risk management noted that prohibiting riding and charging on campus also limits district liability and that the policy should be paired with education and possible legislative advocacy for speed/vehicle standards.
The board asked staff to return with tightened language that references the code of conduct, suggested disciplinary ranges for repeat violations, and an outreach plan for families and principals. No vote was taken at the workshop.
