John Crowley told the board the city negotiated a purchase price of $1,450,000 for 7.62 acres on Anderson Road near Heritage Drive to site a proposed elevated water tank. Crowley asked for the board’s permission to have the mayor sign the purchase contract and the closing documents once prepared.
"We negotiated a price of $1,450,000," Crowley said, and asked the board to authorize signatures for the contract and closing. The staff packet included the proposed contract and closing paperwork.
Board members discussed the source of funds; the mayor noted the purchase would be made from funds previously authorized for such utility investments. The item moved forward and the board authorized the mayor to sign purchase documents as presented.
What happens next: staff will finalize closing documents and proceed toward purchase and closing according to the approved contract. Further project work (site work and water-tank design) will follow the acquisition and be brought back to the board for funding and contracting decisions.
