Osage County commissioners approved multiple personnel and payroll-action forms during the July 21 meeting, including hires and effective dates presented by the sheriff and county staff.
During new business the sheriff requested approval of several payroll-action forms and said one recently vacated $27-an-hour position would not be refilled, which offsets part of the proposed payroll changes. Chair moved to approve the sheriff’s personnel forms; Heather seconded and the commission voted to carry the motions.
The commission approved payroll-action forms presented by the sheriff for Cody Lease, Carrboro Priest, Trey Clayton and Angelo Luce, effective July 19. Separate motions approved SUNY Thompson (effective July 1), Katie Shepherd (effective July 14) and Mia Escalante (effective July 22). Commissioners discussed retroactive effective dates on some hires and agreed to finalize exact dates on each form.
Tony Parrish presented a payroll-action form to create an assistant-controller position to help with payroll, HR and accounting duties and said a temporary hire would help clear backlog; the commission approved the related personnel action for Dalton Fitch with the effective date read into the record. The meeting record shows the commission later approved payroll for the pay period ending July 11, 2026, in the amount of $390,695.67 and payment of bills totaling $233,552.05.
Why it matters: These approvals update county staffing levels and payroll expenses and finalize hires and effective dates that affect 2026 payroll accounting and budget allocations.
What’s next: Staff will finalize paperwork, confirm effective dates in the payroll system and route signed forms to payroll and human resources.
