Council previews banners policy, downtown lights and MissionServe volunteer project

Town Manager Bart Warner reported that Streets Committee work on a banners/display policy will return to the full council in April, staff plans string lights on North Bridge Street, spring cleanup is scheduled April 6–10, and MissionServe will return this summer to renovate about 10 homes (estimated $2,000 materials per home).
Town Manager Bart Warner gave several community updates from the March 17 council meeting.
Warner said the Streets Committee (Mayor C. G. Stanley, Vice Mayor Darrell Updike, Councilman Jay Eppolito) has been drafting a policy for banners and public-right-of-way displays; Public Works is preparing documentation and the committee hopes to present a draft to the full council in April. Warner also said staff plans to install string lights on North Bridge Street along existing light poles as part of downtown improvement work.
Warner announced spring cleanup week is scheduled for April 6–10: curbside bulk pickup is available to customers who pay the refuse collection fee and residents should contact Public Works at (540) 587-6081 with questions.
Councilman Dave Foster said MissionServe volunteers renovated eight homes last summer and plan to return to renovate about 10 homes this year; he estimated material costs at roughly $2,000 per home and invited donations through the town (memo: "Mission Serve").
Warner closed with meeting logistics and reminders of the next regular council meeting on April 7 and the AMP town hall on April 14.
