Trumbull Nature & Arts Center named 2026 Aquarion Environmental Champion

The Trumbull Nature & Arts Center (TNAC) was recognized as the nonprofit honoree at Aquarion Water Company’s 2026 Environmental Champions Awards, the council announced at its July 13 meeting.
Sheryl Baumann, TNAC director, thanked the town for long-term support dating to a 2008 council resolution that dedicated the property at 7115 Main Street for nature, environmental and art education. Baumann described TNAC programming for schoolchildren, seniors, people with memory impairment and students with special needs, and said the organization partners with local groups including Parks & Recreation, the Historical Society, the Library and Sustainable Trumbull.
Baumann invited residents to visit TNAC in October when phase one of a grant-funded interactive educational exhibit will be installed; she said a wall-sized mural by Trumbull artist Linda Thomas will showcase plants and animals native to Trumbull and include interactive elements for children and interpretive material for adults about the Pequonnock River watershed. First Selectman Vicki A. Tesoro echoed thanks and congratulated TNAC on behalf of the town.
