Myrtle Creek council certifies election results, approves paving bid and several routine items

Joanna Milbury read the certification recorded by Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis: "Measure 10-212 to amend the city charter received 536 yes votes and 435 no, with turnout of 37.79% of 2,702 registered voters," she said, citing the county certification dated 06/11/2026.
On routine business the council approved the consent agenda (minutes from the June 2, 2026 regular meeting and acknowledgement of payroll and claims) after a motion by a council member and a second; the council recorded three "aye" votes and the motion carried.
The council also considered a bid for the Springbrook Road paving project. City staff said one bid was submitted by Sand and Gravel for $92,180 to pave the city's portion of Springbrook Road. "I will make a motion to accept the bid of Sand and Gravel in the amount of $92,180 to pave the portion of Springbrook Road that lies within our limits," a councilor said; the council voted in favor and authorized the expenditure.
Finally, the council approved a motion to donate $650 from council discretionary funds to cover weekend watering of public flowers through mid-September. The donation motion was made and carried with unanimous "aye" responses.
No ordinances or binding policy changes were enacted beyond the items listed; staff will post updated charter language and update online records as part of standard follow-up.
