Midvale RDA approves MOU to join Utah Main Street program; no city funds required

The Redevelopment Agency of Midvale unanimously approved Resolution 2026-20 RDA on July 21 to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Utah Main Street program.
Senior staffer Moira Gray told board members the MOU would enroll Midvale as a Tier 1 promising community in the state-run Utah Main Street program, which is housed in the State Historic Preservation Office and participates in Main Street America. Chelsea Gauthier, Utah Main Street program manager, described benefits including a strategic planning work group, networking with other communities, and technical assistance such as "ask an architect" webinars. Gray and Gauthier emphasized the preservation-and-revitalization focus of the program.
Gray noted that there are no direct funds or costs attached to the MOU. The agreement as presented would expire June 30, 2027, with an option to renew; after three years the city would need to reapply for continued participation. The board voted to suspend rules and adopt the resolution unanimously.
