Silver Creek Township’s Board of Supervisors on June 2 moved to add newly introduced clerk/treasurer Sara Nelson to the township CorTrust Bank account and to issue her a township credit card with a $6,000 limit, part of a wider transition of financial access following the change in clerks.
The action was proposed by Supervisor Christensen and seconded by Chair Helman and is recorded in the minutes as “Carried 2-0 -1 (Supervisor Nelson).” The minutes identify the outgoing clerk, Johann Massman, as being removed from the account and his township credit card canceled.
The board also authorized the clerk to sign a contract with the accounting firm ABDO for payroll corrections, with an upper limit of $5,000. That motion, made by Supervisor Christensen and seconded by Supervisor Nelson, is recorded in the minutes as “Carried 3-1.” The minutes do not list individual roll-call votes for that item.
Clerk/treasurer transition items recorded in the written clerk report included updating the driveway ordinance form to add an escrow fee and authorizing the Head Election Judge. The minutes state that Johann Massman will share account passwords with Sara Nelson to complete the transition.
Why it matters: adding the clerk to the bank account and authorizing a credit card transfers transactional authority to the new clerk and establishes a path to correct payroll records. The minutes show the board handled the changes in a single session and recorded differing vote notations for separate actions.
What’s next: The minutes indicate the board intends to follow up on banking services with a consultant presentation at a future meeting and that administrative transition steps (password transfer, ordinance edits) will continue under Chair Helman and the new clerk.
