The Angola City Council approved an engineering services agreement with Roland Associates on Monday for planning work on North Martha Street from Mill Street to Stocker.
City staff said the street is in poor condition and the scope includes assessing whether to repair or replace the water main and to evaluate storm-sewer needs; the $44,200 contract covers engineering only and is intended to put the city in a position to apply for grants or budget for construction. An engineer noted the work is intended to position the city to apply for funding if grants become available or to prepare for future budgeted construction.
Council members asked whether the pavement portion would use Community Crossing funds; staff said that was undecided. They also discussed separating a less-intensive water-main replacement approach to save on engineering costs.
The agreement was approved by voice vote following a motion and second. Staff said the engineering study will allow the city to apply for grants and better estimate construction costs.
