Dwight City Council appoints Adam Wiebe, approves bills and website payment

The Dwight City Council appointed Adam Wiebe to the council and approved routine financial items at a rescheduled meeting on Feb. 25, 2025.
Mayor Pam Goss opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the City Office. On a motion by Councilwoman Sue Mulryan, seconded by Councilwoman Ashley Gearhart, the council voted 4-0 to accept the appointment of Adam Wiebe to fill the seat vacated by Brenda Anderson.
The appointment was among several routine actions taken that evening. Councilman Peter Marquardt moved, and Councilwoman Mulryan seconded, to approve the minutes of the Jan. 20, 2025 meeting; that motion carried 4-0. Marquardt also moved to approve bills totaling $1,161.56; Councilwoman Gearhart seconded and that motion carried 4-0.
Under old business, Amy Oleen-Naaf reported she had obtained ownership of the city website from Wes Bowman and requested payment for the change of ownership. The council approved payment of $492.20 on a motion by Marquardt, seconded by Mulryan; the motion carried 4-0.
Manager Ryan Taylor submitted written maintenance and water reports, and Clerk Ken Bergeron provided written financial reports to the council. Councilwoman Mulryan reported she is continuing work on income and receipts to prepare budget information.
New-business items included a library request to repaint the downtown "black sign;" Councilwoman Gearhart said she would contact the individual who painted the library windows about using a brighter paint. The minutes also record that groups and businesses — the Post Office, the Library, Farmers State Bank, Pink Gravel, Ashley Gearhart and Caroline Zimmerman — will adopt the main-street flower pots for the summer season.
The council discussed nuisance letters for two properties; the minutes note discussion but do not list addresses or concrete next steps. The council also noted that Judge White's contract will be reviewed at the March meeting.
Councilwoman Mulryan moved to adjourn at 8:21 p.m.; Councilman Adam Wiebe seconded and the motion carried 4-0. The council scheduled its next regular meeting for March 17, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the City Library.
