Dwight City Council approves routine bills, donates $50 to local family and will review code enforcement in December

Mayor Pam Goss opened the session at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Councilman Peter Marquardt moved to accept the Oct. 18, 2024 regular meeting minutes as presented; Councilwoman Ashley Gearhart seconded and the motion carried, recorded as 4-0. Later in the meeting Marquardt moved to approve bills totaling $97.77; Councilwoman Brenda Anderson seconded and the motion carried 4-0.
City staff provided routine operational updates. Maintenance Manager Ryan Taylor presented a written report saying the city grader is due for annual maintenance. Taylor also reported that Carlyson & Sons completed water repairs at Oak and 7th Street. City Clerk Ken Bergeron provided financials and said a phone meeting is scheduled for Dec. 5 to discuss the spreadsheet needed to begin Metron meter conversion.
Under new business the council read an email from Councilwoman Brenda Anderson containing code enforcement information and agreed to review that material at the council's December meeting for possible follow-up. Marquardt also reported from the Dwight Community Development Committee that the rent the city pays that committee will be reduced by $50 from January through June 2025; the committee's contract will be reviewed at its annual meeting in July 2025.
Councilwoman Brenda Anderson moved to donate $50 to the family of Maxine Cowdin; Councilwoman Chelsey Brosious seconded and the motion carried 4-0. Councilwoman Ashley Gearhart made the motion to adjourn later in the meeting; the motion was seconded by Councilwoman Brenda Anderson and the minutes record the motion as carried. The meeting adjourned at 9:01 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 16, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
