Health committee accepts 2025 annual report; staff member announces retirement

The Warren County Health Services Committee voted to accept the 2025 Health Services annual report and reviewed revenue and expenditure attachments showing salary and fringe comparisons to last year.

A public health presenter summarized attachments, reporting salaries at about 45.11 percent of budget year-to-date versus about 50.39 percent at the same point last year; vacancies and recent departures were cited as factors. The presenter also said billing for June home care is being completed.

During the meeting a long-serving health services staff member announced her retirement. "I am retiring. My last day is Friday," the staff member said, recounting that her first day with the county was Feb. 2, 2004, and thanking colleagues. The staff member said Marie De Lorenzo will replace her and credited De Lorenzo for preparing the financials.

Committee members thanked the retiree for more than two decades of service. The committee also discussed the rabies program and whether the county must cover rabies costs for people exposed in Warren County but who live in another state; the public health presenter said the county pays because the exposure occurred in the county and noted the rabies program's limited funding (about $17,000), which is quickly consumed by expensive treatments.
