Farmington High marching band honored after DC invitation; board recognizes Layton Lifts volunteer tutors

The board also recognized Kurt and Denise Derew for coordinating the My Hometown education effort in Layton, known locally as Layton Lifts. Kurt Derew described Layton Lifts as focused on recruiting volunteers for Title I elementary schools in Layton (six schools) to provide one-on-one tutoring in math and reading.
Board members thanked the volunteers and invited a photo and plaque presentation. No board action was required for the recognitions, which were ceremonial.
