Chicopee committee backs resolution supporting state auditor's review of Legislature

Councilor Samuel Shumsky, vice chair, moved to approve the resolution; Councilor Susan Goff, chair, seconded the motion. Four committee members voted in favor: Goff, Shumsky, Joseph Pasternak III and Mary Beth Pniak-Costello. Councilor Joel McAuliffe was recorded as absent.
The resolution, presented to the committee under Item 1, says the City of Chicopee supports "transparency, accountability, and public trust" and names the Office of the State Auditor, led by Diana DiZoglio, as conducting the audit. It directs that a copy of the resolution be transmitted to the Office of the State Auditor, the Chicopee state legislative delegation, the governor and the leadership of the Massachusetts House and Senate.
Before the vote on the resolution, Councilor Shumsky moved to close public input; Councilor Goff seconded, and the committee approved that procedural motion as well. The committee then approved the resolution by roll-call vote.
