The Commission voted to accept an estimated $243,407 quote from Grondahl Recreation to move forward with Phase #1 of the Killdeer Lions Park Playground Project. Parks & Recreation Director Ryan Schleppenbach and City Engineer Kenzie Robertson told the body that the quote came in under the $250,000 threshold set in the North Dakota Century Code, allowing the Commission to proceed as presented.
Commissioners also approved a contract agreement with Asphalt Surface Technologies Corporation for the 2026 Killdeer Chip Seal Coat Project and selected Option #2 for the Rodeo Ridge Streets Paving Project. City Engineer Kenzie Robertson provided project-status details and options before the votes.
Buildings & Grounds Supervisor Joe Hurt presented and the Commission approved a series of facility and park maintenance contracts: Caves for Mountain View Shooting Complex camera additions ($10,513.58 less tax) and J Custom Electric for light pole additions ($19,154.57). The Commission awarded Rocky Butte Fencing $8,000 to remove silt fence at North Prairie Park and South Prairie Park.
The body approved two tree purchase quotes: RazorEdge Landscaping ($31,172.00) and Trees on the Move ($50,000.00) for scheduled plantings and park improvements. The Commission also approved a Bobcat of Mandan quote for a soil conditioner at $10,903.98.
Taken together, the actions move forward a mix of recreation, streets and maintenance work the city says will be funded from existing capital and maintenance budgets. The Commission gave unanimous roll-call approval to each motion.
Next steps: The city will issue bids where authorized (Wayfinding Phase #1 and other bid-directed items) and proceed with contract execution and scheduling for the approved projects.
