The Killdeer City Commission on March 2 approved a three-year lease extension for the Cowboy Golf Foundation as the group moves forward with remodeling the old fire hall into a golf-simulator facility. Commissioners kept the current utility arrangement — the city will continue paying utilities — and included an annual option to revisit lease terms.
Clayton Johnsen and Billie Jo Stahl, representing the Cowboy Golf Foundation, discussed the remodeling plans with the Commission. Commissioner Cindy Hanson moved to extend the lease for three years with a yearly option to revisit the terms; the motion passed on a roll-call vote.
The Commission separately approved a motion authorizing the foundation to work with Buildings & Grounds Supervisor Joe Hurt to secure a contractor to install a sewer drain, with the city agreeing to cover up to $10,000 of the cost. "We want to make sure the project moves forward with the proper utilities in place," Joe Hurt said during the discussion.
The motions were unanimous. The Commission did not set a contractor or timeline in the meeting; the foundation and Buildings & Grounds staff were directed to proceed with contractor selection and bring any necessary contract details back to staff or a future meeting if required.
The Commission handled the lease and sewer authorization during the consent and discussion portions of the regular meeting. No opposition or amendments were recorded in the meeting minutes.
