Wilson School District board approves construction change orders, tech contracts and two policy updates

The Wilson School District board met July 22 and approved multiple consent items including construction change orders and retainage reductions, multi-year technology contracts and two revised district policies.
Superintendent Dr. Trickett highlighted personnel moves and retirements in his report, noting the district will bid farewell to long-serving bus driver Mike Qualick and welcoming several new hires, including school psychologists and a high-school science teacher. "Just wanna thank him for his service to our students," Dr. Trickett said of Qualick.
The board approved a package of operations items that included the purchase of paddock starting blocks from Mainline Commercial Pools for $47,056 and electrical work for the high-school tech-ed department by H.P. Frasier Company for $84,400. The board also approved a ductwork extension priced at $15,500 and several change orders (35R–39) for the high-school auditorium project, and voted to reduce retainage for J.R. Reynolds Inc. (to $5,000) and E.R. Stubner Inc. (to $100,000).
In technology and cybersecurity, trustees approved three-year agreements to renew Google Workspace for Education Plus and to contract CrowdStrike Falcon Complete through PSBA, both billed annually. The board also approved a contract with Imagine Learning LLC to support the 2026–27 Wilson Virtual Academy.
The district accepted a $2,600 donation from Market Street Sports Groups to cover cost increases for the athletic department's Huddle subscription, which the district uses to stream sports activities.
On student services the board approved the Act 80 days application for the 2026–27 school year, a one-student extended-school-year contract renewal with the Vista School, a pending renewal with John Paul II RSY for two special-education students (pending solicitor review) and continued consulting support with the Karen Foundation for the student-assistance program.
An appliances purchase for new FCS rooms at Southern was approved; the roll-call vote on that item was 5 yes, 1 abstention (Missus Casper).
Finance items — including payment of bills, financial reports and budget transfers for June 1–30, 2026 — passed in roll-call votes. Transportation approvals included awarding fuel purchasing for 2026–27 through the Berks County joint purchasing board, a revenue-share contract with Cocalico School District to transport a student to Hogan Learning Academy at $130 per school day (including ESY 2026), and the retirement and auction of transportation van 112 via GovDeals.
The board completed the second reading of revised Policy 9.15 on booster organizations and gave final adoption to revised Policy 8.16, the district social-media policy, both approved on roll-call votes.
With no public comment on non-agenda items and no additional business, the meeting was adjourned.
