Tega Cay City Hall renamed in honor of first mayor; council calls for future naming policy

The Tega Cay City Council voted unanimously on May 18 to dedicate City Hall as the Anthony Tarulli Building in recognition of Tarulli’s role as the city’s first mayor.
Councilmember James D. Foltz moved and Mayor Pro Tem Thomas S. Hyslip seconded the resolution. Mayor Carmen S. Miller described the dedication as timely given that Anthony Tarulli is 94 and living. Councilmember Heather Jones said she supported the honor but asked that the city create transparent rules and policies for future naming requests to ensure proper vetting, accountability and to avoid community tension.
Council discussed developing criteria for non‑funded naming requests going forward; Mayor Miller said a process is in the works. The resolution passed unanimously.
