The Chair moved and a member seconded to approve a retail alcohol license for the Veterans of Foreign Wars during a brief special meeting called to correct a paperwork error.
Britney, the clerk, told the council that the VFW had listed their property insurance carrier instead of the required dram shop insurance when submitting the original application, and the state agency denied the filing. "They put the wrong dram shop insurance carrier. They put their property insurance carrier instead," Britney said, explaining that the denial led the group's license to lapse and required a new application.
Britney said the VFW submitted a corrected application and that she could not finalize the approval without the council's vote. "I'm gonna log right in to GovConnect and approve it right away," she said, adding that she expected the application to appear in the morning and the post could be operating before noon.
After the motion and second, the clerk called the roll. Members Lumley, Noah, Pittman, Knighton and Otto each voted "Aye," carrying the motion to approve the license.
With the approval complete, the meeting moved to adjournment and closed shortly after the vote. The clerk said she would notify the VFW and complete the administrative steps in GovConnect to restore the license.
