Mr. Mia said the Rosa Parks location is roughly 20 years old and includes about 7,000 square feet of office, classroom and support space. He said last year's state capital budget programmed $250,000 toward renovations and that the FY2026 CIP project would be created to support that renovation work if approved.
Council Vice President Giwando said the project serves a "really, really important population" and thanked Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), the Department of Health and Human Services and DGS for the partnership. Giwando asked about the timeline; DGS said this is an MCPS-led project and DGS is functioning as a pass-through, and that a definitive MCPS schedule was not yet available.
The committee, with no objection, moved the item to the full council for consideration.
