"About a week ago, we received word from our colleagues at WAMPO that the project selection committee has recommended the City of Goddard / Sedgwick County 183rd Street expansion project in an amount of $3,850,000 in suballocated federal funding in fiscal year 2030, representing 80% of qualifying project costs," a staff member said. Staff cautioned that final approval remains pending from WAMPO's technical advisory committee and transportation policy body but said they were optimistic about the recommendation.
Staff also provided status updates on other capital projects, bid schedules for water looping and roadway projects and mobilization timelines. The council thanked staff for securing the recommendation and was briefed on upcoming community events including the Main Street Market on April 12 and a community cleanup day scheduled for April 25.
The recommendation from WAMPO, if confirmed by the region's final bodies, would be the first time staff said Goddard had received suballocated transportation funding through WAMPO for a local project.
