Goddard wins WAMPO recommendation for $3.85M toward 183rd Street expansion

City Administrator Craig Crossette told the council that the WAMPO project selection committee recommended the City of Goddard/Sedgwick County 183rd Street expansion project for $3,850,000 in sub-allocated federal funding for fiscal year 2030, representing roughly 80% of qualifying project costs. Crossette said this is the first time Goddard has received sub-allocated funding for a transportation project.
The project scope described by staff includes a roundabout at 183rd and Maple and paving from Maple to Central. Crossette said the funding recommendation would cover the sub-allocated federal share (about 80%) of qualifying costs for the project; final funding and scheduling remain subject to WAMPO and Sedgwick County processes and future budget decisions.
Crossette also updated the council on other ongoing projects: Villas at Pleasant Ridge Creek (79 of 120 working days elapsed), water-looping project bids due April 16, annual roadway project bids due April 9, Maple Phase 2 paving expected soon, North Park project bids opened March 25 with contract likely at the April 20 meeting, and Maple/167th and 23rd Street paving nearing completion. He announced the season’s first Main Street Market and upcoming community cleanup and volunteer events.
