Goddard council approves procurement for new public works facility — furniture, IT and access control

The Goddard City Council authorized purchases for the new public works facility on a unanimous 5–0 vote, approving staff recommendations for furniture, IT services and cameras/access control.

"We're recommending to work with authorization with Pure Workplace Solutions for the $80,494.67, IT services from Imagine IT for $40,632.68, and cameras and access control from LT Solutions for $29,735 for the new public works facility," the Director said during the procurement presentation. Staff said the items exceed department approval levels, so council authorization was required.

Staff explained the procurements cover conference room and office furniture, the server rack and Ethernet wiring for offices, and three access control points for the facility (two front doors and one back door). Bids were gathered from multiple firms; staff presented pricing and noted labor accounts for much of the cost of installation.

During the meeting staff said the project is on budget overall: "we're conservatively hoping to be about $600,000 under budget when this project is handed over to the city," one council member said, highlighting contingency planning for possible change orders. After a motion to authorize the listed procurements, the council voted in favor; the motion carried 5–0.

Staff said the procurements will be budgeted through the public works facility project account and contractors will coordinate installation at project completion. No separate contract numbers were recorded on the council agenda during the meeting.
