Member Steven Hurd introduced and the board adopted a resolution setting July 14–28, 2026 as the period to file affidavits of candidacy for seats on Independent School District No. 404.
The resolution, which Margo Suiter seconded and the board approved by unanimous roll call, directs the district clerk to publish notice in the district’s official newspaper at least two weeks before the filing period and to post notice at the district administrative offices at least 10 days before filings open. The filing deadline is 5:00 p.m. on July 28, 2026, and the filing fee is $2. The resolution states the general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, and that three members will be elected to four-year terms.
The motion passed on a recorded vote in which Chairperson Schwing, Margo Suiter, Steven Hurd, Houselog, J. Osland and J. DeVries voted in favor and none voted against. The board did not record amendments to the resolution during the meeting.
By adopting the resolution, the board authorized the clerk to carry out the publication and posting steps described in the resolution so candidates and the public can meet the filing requirements.
