The Denison City Council approved a series of consent and infrastructure items including a pay application for ongoing street work and a testing-services proposal for Broadway resurfacing.
Engineering staff recommended approval of pay application No. 4 for Bloss Paving & Paving Company in the amount of $145,552.84 for work on 2nd Avenue South Reconstruction. The council also approved a proposal for certified testing services for the Broadway HMA resurfacing project not to exceed $6,500; members discussed DOT-required minimum testing and asked staff to ensure DOT specifications are met.
Other consent items the council approved included administrative agreements for partial self-funded benefit plan run-out services with TriStar Benefit Administrators and routine fiscal-year items. Council members asked about project timing; staff said the Broadway project is scheduled to begin in early August (week of Aug. 3 or Aug. 10, depending on contractor sequencing) and that the project team coordinated timelines to avoid the Barbecue Fest.
