Town manager outlines hometown-heroes banners, picnic and fireworks plans

Town Manager Mister Campbell updated the council on several community items and asked staff to return with proposals for council consideration.
Campbell said the town clerk, Miss Tanner, is coordinating light decorations and staff will propose a hometown-heroes banner program (lamppost banners to honor veterans and other local honorees). He said the program is typically revenue-neutral and that staff will bring a draft program to a workshop for further discussion and likely action in July. "We can make it what you wanna make it, but it is usually veterans," Campbell said, adding the program could include firefighters, rescue squad workers and other hometown honorees.
Council reported ongoing picnic planning, confirmed the park reservation and set the picnic date for August 1. Campbell also confirmed that the town has received required fireworks documentation and payment, and noted the show will include a drone light display. Councilors expressed appreciation for staff work on events and civic pride initiatives.
Campbell said staff are continuing to work with county officials and a company (Array) to resolve a separate cellular-tower ownership and radio-access issue; he said it is being handled and would be fixed if an emergency arose.
