She and other AARP representatives thanked police and the county for coordinating on the ordinance.
Council sponsors described the ordinance as a preventive consumer‑protection step that will be reinforced through outreach. Staff said the measure was intended as a first line of intervention that could make conversions of funds less likely while broader state and federal efforts continue.
The council approved the ordinance with no recorded opposition. Staff will coordinate signage specifications and an outreach plan with police and consumer‑protection partners.
