Ronceverte council hears community updates on new downtown business, cleanup drive, residential fire and splash pad timing

Council member Mark Trent noted the recent opening downtown of Wildwood Mercantile/Café Verte. City Recorder Leah Smith reported on the recently held 'Make it Shine' community clean-up and said a bucket-drive fundraiser for Project Graduation was successful. Mayor Deena Pack reported a residential fire earlier that day and said the community will likely need to offer support; she also said a business plan for the Clifford Armory is being completed with assistance from Downstream Strategies.
City Administrator P. Mentz told the council the Island Park splash pad is likely to open the weekend of Memorial Day — or possibly the weekend before — weather permitting. He also reminded members the next regular council meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 1, 2026. The minutes do not record further action on these items. The meeting adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
