Architect Bill McLaughlin of Platts Associates brought material samples and described the proposed products as durable, low‑maintenance options.
Board members said the proposed treatment was an improvement over the current vinyl siding but raised questions about the 7‑inch lap exposure and suggested adding a head trim above the windows to improve proportions. One member suggested simplifying an arch profile at the main entrance to a straight horizontal detail to make the feature easier to build and allow for a larger sign; the architect agreed to explore those options.
A motion to approve—conditioned on incorporating supporting plans by reference, obtaining any required Freeport codes permits, and pursuing the trim/arch refinements—passed by voice vote recorded as unanimous.
The board's conditions allow the applicant to make the described deviations without returning for further approval if the alternate trim or arch removal is implemented as discussed.
