Commission retroactively approves $2,500 emergency water repair; city remains under Modified Phase III water shortage

Commissioner Sasha Madden told the City Commission on June 16 that staff undertook an emergency directional boring to repair a water leak and requested retroactive acceptance of a $2,500 quote from DS Boring. Commissioner Randy Huckabee moved to accept the quote and Commissioner Caitlin Bolender seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Madden also reported the city remains under a Modified Phase III water shortage and that staff will reassess the declaration at the beginning of next month. During the Clerk’s report, Public Works requested renting a skid steer mulcher to clear the Pennsylvania Avenue lot in preparation for the planned water tower; the commission approved the $4,000 rental.
A resident, Janice Davis, asked whether water billing will move online; Water Clerk Will Plazewski responded that staff are still waiting for a software transfer to be completed before online billing can be implemented.
No additional water restrictions or emergency measures were enacted at the meeting; the items recorded were limited to approving the emergency repair payment, approving equipment rental for water tower preparation, and confirming the ongoing Modified Phase III status.
