Council member Shea used the Old/New Business portion of the June 15 work session to present a draft resolution celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Shea read the resolution text aloud, which urges local commemorations, encourages residents and organizations to hold patriotic events, and directs city administration to coordinate observances as feasible.
Amick asked Shea to send the resolution to the chair and to the full council for review between meetings. City legal staff (Mr. Shamp) confirmed he would review the draft for any necessary adjustments before it is added to a future Council agenda. No vote was taken on the resolution during the work session.
