Residents report drainage and water-damage concerns; board hears well-project grant update and approves minutes before brief executive session

Several residents told the Beekmantown Town Board on July 6 that drainage problems are causing property damage and urged the town to act.

Resident Mr. McCasland said he has "significant water damage" to his home and asked the board to authorize the Highway Department to fix exterior drainage he believes is blocked. Mr. Boire said the town routed water across his property but that it does not drain properly; he has been filling potholes himself and reported a plugged culvert. Sam said he would speak with Warren, the Highway Superintendent, about both issues; Warren’s crew was noted to be working with the Town of Plattsburgh on Smithfield Blvd paving at the time.

Board members also heard an update on the town’s well project. Mark Henry and Michael Cashman are pursuing additional grant funding rather than rebidding the work; the transcript records that the State and the Department of Health are involved and that Joel Wood is preparing federal grant paperwork. A board member, Brad, commented that the person working on grants "has a lot of connections," and the board said it will concentrate on current projects for now.

The board approved Resolution No. 131-26 to accept the June 15, 2026 monthly meeting minutes (motion: Turner; second: Deyo; recorded as "all in favor"). The board then moved into executive session at 7:15 p.m., exited at 7:23 p.m., reconvened and adjourned at 7:24 p.m. Motions and seconders for the executive-session motion and adjournment were recorded in the minutes.
