Councilor Jenna resigns Ward 4 seat, is appointed to Parks & Rec committee

Councilor Jenna told the Fairway City Council on Monday that she will move half a block outside Ward 4 and must resign her council seat, though she will remain a Fairway resident.
"Well, the good news is I'm staying in Fairway, but the sad news is, as I will be, 0.5 a block outside of Ward 4, I must now resign my seat in city council," Jenna said in announcing the change. She thanked colleagues and staff for five years of service and said she would remain involved locally.
Council moved to appoint Jenna as a resident member of the Parks & Recreation Committee to fill a vacancy created by a recent resignation. The motion to appoint was moved and seconded and carried by unanimous voice vote. Council also described the process for filling the vacant Ward 4 council seat: staff will accept applications (announcement to go out the following day), narrow candidates if needed, and hold interviews and a vote at the February council meeting.
What’s next: Jenna will serve on Parks & Rec to finish the committee term; the council will solicit and interview applicants for the Ward 4 seat and decide in February.
