Camp Bernalillo opens and pool reopens after inspection; town sets lap‑swim hour

Recreation Director Mike Kloeppel told the council on June 8 that the town’s Summer Recreation Program, Camp Bernalillo, began that day with roughly 80 children, about 80% of whom are Bernalillo residents.
Kloeppel said the municipal swimming pool passed inspection and will open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; 10–11 a.m. will be designated for lap swimming, followed by open swim. He described recent pool construction and improvements, saying the project added a little over 2,000 square feet of new concrete around the pool and that the shade structure had been reinforced and would receive a new shade top.
Kloeppel said the plan is to begin summer camp swimming activities the following day. Councilor Torres‑Quintana publicly thanked Bernalillo Fire Department personnel for assisting a family member; Councilor Prairie thanked the Police Department for support at a recent graduation event.
