The Fairway City Council approved its consent agenda in a single motion on Monday, covering minutes, claims and appropriations, an ordinance, interlocal agreements for a State Park Road stormwater study and public improvements on 55th Street and Mission Road, and a Fairway storm sewer rehabilitation project.
The consent package also included purchase authorization for pool deck furniture up to $36,000 and park patron counters up to $10,000, as well as participation in a 2025 super pass program that involves Prairie Village and Mission. City staff said stormwater work is tied to the CIP milling and overlay schedule and the city budgeted approximately $360,000 for stormwater work with the expectation of recovering about half of that from the county.
The motion to approve consent agenda items A–I was made and seconded; the council approved the motion by unanimous voice vote.
Why it matters: Staff noted stronger than expected 2024 sales tax receipts—$2.6 million versus a $2.3 million budget—allowing an increased transfer to the CIP fund of roughly $1.5 million to support future street and capital projects.
