Board members and Human Relations Council staff reported multiple outreach attempts over several months to reach Pickett by phone and email, and said notices were publicly posted and not returned as undeliverable. Members expressed concern about an extended period of non‑participation—approximately six to seven months—and the operational impact on the Board.
Board members noted Pickett’s term runs through January 2027 and that formal removal would require action by the City Commission under applicable ordinance and bylaw provisions. No formal action was taken at the meeting. Chair Brandon McClain said he will consult the appropriate Commissioner about whether to communicate the Board’s concerns to Pickett and whether to proceed with a replacement; he will report back to the Board after that discussion.
The Board did not set any deadlines or make a motion regarding membership at the April 7 meeting. The Board’s next meeting is scheduled for May 11, 2026; the Chair indicated he will follow up with members after consulting the Commissioner.
