Councilors agreed to continue the search for one part‑time officer and directed the chief to proceed with outreach to the consortium and to coordinate civil‑service testing. No formal vote was recorded beyond the council’s agreement to pursue a candidate.
The update came near the start of the meeting at First Global Methodist Church, where councilors also handled routine procedural items and a series of motions on local projects and grants. Pernice did not provide names of specific candidates during the update and said he would send out letters and coordinate next steps with the Civil Service Commission.
